Sun Haas is an artist and illustrator, originally from Berlin, who has lived and worked in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia since 2011.
Sun’s work is concerned with the formation and understanding of connections. Her paintings are expressions of the connections she forms with herself, the environment and other human/non-human actors.
Sun’s practice reflects a life-long interest in spiritual philosophies and understandings of the human psyche. Through a non-directive painting process images emerge from a space in which imagination, experiences, conscious and subconscious combine. Deep colours, bold shapes and spontaneous mark-making form the basis of her visual language.
Sun has a background in fine art, art therapy and fashion design. She has had solo exhibitions of her work at Planning Studio on Peel, Collingwood and recently participated in ‘The Other Art Fair’ in Melbourne. In May this year, Sun was featured in Broadsheet as a selected emerging artist from ‘The Other Art Fair’. Her works are held in private collections in Australia and overseas.
