Sun Haas is an artist and illustrator, originally from Berlin, and has lived and worked in Naarm/Melbourne, Australia since 2011.
Sun’s work centres around abstract visual explorations of connections - with herself, and between herself, the environment and other human/non-human actors. Her practice is motivated by the exploration of spiritual philosophies and understandings of the human psyche. Sun engages in a non-directive process, that allows images to emerge from a space in which imagination, experiences, conscious and subconscious combine. She experiences her paintings as living entities that can serve as connection points within herself and with others. The creation of in-between spaces, where wonder, curiosity and mystery exist is the foundation of Sun’s creative work.
Sun has a background in fine art, art therapy and design. She has had solo exhibitions of her work at Planning Studio on Peel, Collingwood and recently participated in The Other Art Fair in Melbourne. In May this year, Sun was featured in Broadsheet, alongside selected emerging artists from The Other Art Fair. Her works are held in private collections in Australia and internationally.
